Interactive Panels

These are a series of interactive panels that were meant to provide enrichment activities for children. The panels were designed to be durable and allow for adjustment of the level of sensory stimuli.

Panel Types

Audio to LED

This panel reacts to sound (either from the onboard source or microphone) like a graphic equalizer with multi-color LEDs glowing to match the intensity of the sound. Internally, there is a custom audio signal processor and custom LED boards. In later versions, where the radio was replaced with an MP3 player interface, a custom Class D audio amplifier was added to power the speakers.

Chase Sound Game

This panel plays a game where individual buttons light up and a victory sound is played if the lit button is pressed (and a wah-wah is played if another is pressed). Internally, a custom PCB drives the pattern of the buttons (with varied pattern predictability and speeds available). Originally, an amplifier was built onto the game PCB, but a later revision moved to a separate custom Class D amplifier that is shared with other units.
